Every YuMe publisher undergoes a thorough review to ensure that its video content is professionally produced and brand appropriate. We also review every site that a YuMe publisher provides as an authorized syndication partner to make sure they meet our standards. Publishers and syndicated domains are constantly monitored and regularly audited to continually ensure they are brand safe. But this is only the beginning.

 

Proactive technology: protecting your brand

Publishers in the YuMe Connected Audience Network are all powered by our Relevance Engine. Similar to anti-virus software that gets downloaded to a laptop and protects it against viruses, YuMe’s patent-pending technology is uniquely integrated into the video player, so it goes wherever the player is being viewed. This enables us to collect detailed information about the in-page environment of a publisher’s player, regardless of whether it has been syndicated to a partner website, shared through social networks, or embedded on another site. Our technology then determines whether the in-page environment is brand safe and proactively decides whether to deliver an ad—all in real time.

 

Domain Detection: preventing inappropriate impressions

To protect our customers’ brands, YuMe maintains a growing blacklist of more than 1.6 million domains that contain inappropriate content. When our technology receives an ad request from a video player, our domain-detection capability confirms that the player is not embedded on a blacklisted, unauthorized, or unknown domain before serving an ad. If the ad request is from an unauthorized domain, the ad is blocked, and that domain is flagged for review.

 

Ad visibility: making every impression count

Each impression you purchase is critical to building reach and brand awareness, so we make sure they all count. YuMe’s Ad Visibility capability guarantees that you are not paying for impressions that aren’t seen. By automatically detecting the size and location of the player in relation to the viewer’s screen, our technology determines whether the video player is visible to the viewer, or above the fold. If it isn’t, your ad won’t be shown.

 

Syndication Quality Scores: working with publishers to protect brands

YuMe publishers are assigned a Syndication Quality Score. This score is based on how well ads served into a publisher’s syndicated player perform for advertisers, and whether the publisher has ever requested an ad from an unsafe environment. Our technology reports on every ad impression blocked and the corresponding reason why it was blocked. Using this information, we work with each publisher to improve the quality of their distribution sites and notify them if their players are appearing on blacklisted sites.
